Preserving what matters

“ I paint flowers so they do not die” - Frida Kahlo

I love this quote by Frida however there is something so poignant about it. Given her life circumstances and what she endured with her years racked by pain it seems only natural she would want to preserve the beauty and life

in the things around her that gave her inspiration. Her paintings were vibrant and infused with her life experience and the saturated light and color found in Mexico. I thought of her today when the blooms of the Watsonia’s caught my eye.
